International Virtual Zoo

My Japanese friend came to Belgium and we tested the materials. (See the picture: we had a lot of fun)

Here I give you some information about the zoo project:

The aim of this project is to build up an international virtual zoo with animals made of chenille (kind of ‘soft and colourful wire’). These ‘creatures’ will be converted into rubber stamps that can be used in a very simple (but fantastic) free drawing and painting program for children: ‘Tuxpaint’. (See the ‘screendump’)

These ‘real pets’ made by children from all over the world can be used in a creative way into this playful and artistic environment. ‘Tuxpaint’ is even translated in more than 20 languages!

(For ‘Windows’ you need 2 files: ‘tuxpaint windows-installer’ and ‘ tuxpaint-stamps windows-installer.’) (For Macintosh OS X you need 3 files: 'tuxpaint' 'tuxpaint-stamps' and 'tuxpaint-config')

Please e-mail us your address so we can send you a parcel with chenille. With this material only you make the colourful animals(size = 10 - 15 cm). Give your ‘pets’ a ‘name’ and send some of them back to us.

We will take photo’s of the ‘real’ animals made of chenille and transform them into special files that become ‘stamps’ (buttons) into the drawing program.
Then we will send you the files (the whole collection, with sound effects) by e-mail with an explanation how and where to put them into the program.

When we work together we will create a virtual zoo that we can use when we create our works of art with ‘TuxPaint’.

Please take also some pictures during the activities of the children (and the teacher…) so we can put them on the website. Thanks! (Have fun!)
